About

The Next Generation STEM Internship Program (NGSI) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is a paid internship for high school juniors, seniors, and recent graduates in East Tennessee. Interns work on STEM or STEM-related projects alongside ORNL research and professional staff. Interns can also join optional workshops, lab tours, lectures, and seminars. The program runs in several sessions each year. The Spring 2027 session is virtual, part-time, and runs from January 26, 2027 to mid or late May 2027, with a stipend of $125 per week. Summer sessions are full-time and held on site in Oak Ridge, Tennessee; the 2026 summer session ran June 8 to July 24 and paid $500 per week.
