About

The Langston University Math and Science Academy is a summer STEM academy in Oklahoma for high school students entering their sophomore, junior, or senior year who are interested in math, science, and technology. It is offered by Langston University in Langston, Oklahoma, and run by the university's Department of Chemistry and Physical Science. The 2026 academy ran from May 24 to June 5, 2026. Students do hands-on lab work in mathematics, chemistry, and biology and learn with current technology and new teaching methods. The program also covers STEM careers, with visits to the university's Aquatic Center and Goat Research Center. Participants take part in ACT preparation and college readiness workshops. Other activities include a team mystery challenge, quiz bowl competitions, and recreational and team-building events. After the academy, students can join an online network of alumni who are pursuing STEM degrees and careers.

Requirements

Open to students entering their sophomore, junior, or senior year of high school with a B average or higher in their math or science courses. Students apply with an online application form and one letter of recommendation from a math or science teacher. The application deadline for the 2026 academy was April 3, 2026.
