About

The Institute for Advanced Learning and Research (IALR) Summer Internship Program is a paid summer internship at IALR in Danville, Virginia, open to high school graduates who plan to start college in the fall, as well as college students and recent college graduates. Interns get on-the-job training and leadership experience in fields such as research and data analysis, marketing and communications, agricultural technology research, coding and robotics, manufacturing, and information technology. Each internship lasts eight weeks, with 28 hours of work per week for a total of 224 hours. Interns are paid a taxable stipend twice a month, and each intern sets a detailed work schedule with an IALR mentor during orientation. IALR says summer 2027 internships will be posted in March or April 2027.

Requirements

For the 2026 program, applicants had to be a high school graduate planning to attend college in the fall of 2026, an undergraduate or graduate student, or a college graduate from within the previous 12 months. High school seniors can apply for the summer right after they graduate. Interns are expected to meet professional standards throughout the internship.
