About

Teen Gallery Guides @ Getty is a paid summer internship for Los Angeles County high school students who are interested in art, museums, and public speaking. Interns study works in the Getty collections and learn how to talk about art, engage an audience, and teach. They then design and lead gallery experiences and activities for visiting school groups and visitors of all ages. The internship takes place at two sites. Interns at the Getty Villa in Pacific Palisades focus on ancient Greek and Roman art, while interns at the Getty Center in Brentwood explore art from the Middle Ages to the present. The program usually runs from mid-June to early August. Each intern earns a stipend after completing the program, and lunch and transportation to and from the Getty sites are provided.

Requirements

Open to high school sophomores (rising juniors) and juniors (rising seniors) enrolled in a Los Angeles County high school. Must be at least 16 by the program start and live within 25 miles of the Getty Center. Interns must commit to attending every day of the program. Applications typically open in early February each year.
