About

The Delaware Academy of Medicine Student Internship is a public health internship that includes a track for Delaware high school students in 10th through 12th grade. The high school internship takes place entirely online. The Academy schedules each internship around the student's other commitments. The Academy runs three cohorts each year: the Spring 2027 cohort runs from January to April, and the Summer 2027 cohort runs from May to August. Interns learn to describe public health problems, find and evaluate public health data sources, and analyze qualitative and quantitative data. They also apply public health theory to program planning, build a logic model for implementation and evaluation, and present data on public health issues in writing. A separate track serves college and graduate students. Students with questions can email the internship program coordinator.

Requirements

Open to Delaware residents currently enrolled in a Delaware high school in grades 10-12. Before starting, each student meets with the Academy's internship coordinator to talk through the role, its requirements and the expected deliverables. Applications for the Spring 2027 cohort open November 1, and applications for the Summer 2027 cohort open March 1.
