About

The Summer Legal Fellowship is a paid summer law program run by the Center for Youth Development through Law at UC Berkeley School of Law in Berkeley, California, for high school students from first-generation and marginalized backgrounds in the East Bay. Fellows take classes on the UC Berkeley campus, practice in mock trials, discuss current events and meet legal professionals. The fellowship is two months of full-time classes and work. Fellows intern at law, government and nonprofit offices and receive stipends, and the program adds career development, college preparation and a curriculum on self-awareness, emotional intelligence and leadership. Mentoring and follow-up support continue after the summer. The 2026 cohort completed the program in summer 2026.
