About

The Junior Volunteer Program at Children's Hospital Colorado is a hospital volunteer program for teens ages 13 to 18. Junior volunteers help out in many hospital departments and support the hospital's fundraising events. Assignments depend on the hospital's needs and each teen's interests, and can include planning events for families, doing crafts with patients, or leading creative play with kids. The program is a good fit for teens curious about healthcare careers who want to see how a children's hospital works. The program offers both school-year and summer opportunities at Children's Colorado sites along Colorado's Front Range. Volunteers usually commit about three hours per week. Teens can earn volunteer credit to use on scholarship applications. Each year, the hospital awards two $2,500 Junior Volunteer Recognition Scholarships to teen volunteers. A Junior Volunteer Advisory Committee gives teens a chance to take on leadership roles.

Requirements

Open to teens ages 13 to 18. To join, students submit an online application, complete an interview, and pass a health screening before they start. There is no fixed deadline, and applications are reviewed in the order they are received.
