About

The Arizona Science Center Volunteer Program is an in-person volunteer opportunity in Phoenix, Arizona, open to anyone 15 or older, including high school students. Volunteers can work in exhibitions, help with science demonstrations, and fill roles such as activity facilitation, guest services, or administrative support. Teen volunteers may lead activities inside the Science Center or prepare science kits that are sent to schools around Arizona. Shifts are offered during regular business hours, in the evenings, and on weekends. Core Volunteers pick weekly recurring shifts, from one to seven days a week, while Event Volunteers help with special projects as needed. The process is selective, and not every applicant is accepted. Dedicated volunteers can earn service-learning credit for school and receive a personal reference. After 50 hours of service, volunteers get two free general admission tickets, and after 100 hours they get a family membership for four. The Science Center is located at 600 E. Washington St. in Phoenix.

Requirements

Must be 15 or older. You do not need a science background; the Center looks for outgoing people who enjoy working with guests of all ages and are interested in STEM. To join, applicants submit an online volunteer application, complete a phone interview, attend a volunteer orientation, and commit to at least 24 hours of service.
