About

The Mayo Clinic Arizona High School Student Summer Volunteer Program is an unpaid summer volunteer program for high school students interested in healthcare careers. Mayo Clinic canceled the 2026 program and says information about applying to the 2027 program will be posted in December 2026. The 2026 program was planned to run for nine weeks, from June 1 to July 31, 2026. Volunteers serve one four-hour shift each week on a weekday during business hours, and they may not volunteer more than 12 hours in a week. The program does not include clinical shadowing. Instead, students take on service assignments that can involve working with patients and supporting staff, and they attend educational presentations. Training takes place in person at the Scottsdale or Phoenix campus. Students who finish the program receive a report confirming their total volunteer hours and service area.

Requirements

Applicants for the most recent cycle had to be 15 to 18 years old and not yet enrolled in college, and students had to commit to the full nine-week schedule. To apply, students and a parent or guardian complete and sign the application documents, and students provide immunization records for measles, mumps, rubella and chickenpox. Selected students must also complete an Occupational Health screening visit, which Mayo Clinic pays for. Applicants chosen to move forward are invited by email to a required in-person interview, followed by a mandatory orientation. The 2026 application deadline was February 16, 2026.
