About
The American Red Cross Teen Volunteer program in Arkansas, run through the Red Cross Youth & Young Adult Program, gives young people ages 13 to 24 a way to serve their communities. High school students can volunteer across the Missouri & Arkansas Region, which has more than 30 high school and college Red Cross Clubs. Students can also join or start a Red Cross Club at their school. The Leaders Save Lives program lets high school and college students host a blood drive, with summer and winter sessions and a chance at a scholarship of up to $2,500. The Youth Action Campaign teaches international humanitarian law through peer education. Arkansas students can also complete LEARNS Act 237 service hours with the Red Cross.
Requirements
Open to ages 13 to 24, though roles for volunteers under 18 are more limited. Volunteers under 18 need consent from a parent or guardian before starting, and those 18 and older must pass a background check. Blood Donor Ambassadors must be at least 16 and commit to one six-hour shift a month for three months. Every volunteer signs up online through the Red Cross platform called Volunteer Connection. Red Cross Club applications open August 1 to September 30 for fall and January 1 to January 31 for spring.
