Teen Journalism Institute

The Spokesman-Review offers four paid positions for incoming high school juniors and seniors in its downtown Spokane newsroom. Over eight weeks in the summer, interns work across newsroom departments, attend daily news meetings and finish a group community journalism project. In 2026 the institute began June 24.

Open to incoming juniors and seniors ages 16 to 18 at public, private or home schools. The 2026 application deadline was June 8, 2026; 2027 dates have not been announced.
