About

Introduction to Psychology (PSYC-101) is a three-credit college course that Queensborough Community College (QCC) in Bayside, New York, offers to high school students through College Now, a partnership between the City University of New York and the New York City Department of Education. The course surveys the scientific study of behavior and mental processes, covering research methods, the biology of the brain, sensation and perception, sleep, learning and memory, development, personality, abnormal psychology and therapy, and social psychology. College Now classes are tuition free. The Spring 2027 section meets in person at QCC on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., January 30 to May 22, 2027, with no class on February 6 or April 24. Students enrolled for credit receive a QCC ID card for the semester, which gives access to the library, the Academic Computing Center and the fitness facilities.

Requirements

Open to juniors and seniors who attend New York City public schools. Students need a score of 75 or higher on the English Language Arts Regents or 480 or higher on the verbal SAT. New students fill out the College Now online application, then print the form and give it to the College Now liaison at their high school. All students, including returning students who give their CUNY ID number (EMPLID), then email the College Now office with a high school transcript, their full name, high school, grade, OSIS number, phone number and first and second class choices.
