About

Cyber Security for Computer Science (CS4CS) is a free summer cybersecurity program at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering for high school students in 10th or 11th grade. It is run by the NYU Tandon Center for K12 STEM Education and was created by Professor Nasir Memon of NYU's Center for Cyber Security. Students compete in Capture The Flag challenges and work through hands-on security problems. The curriculum covers security-focused scripting, cryptography and digital forensics. Participants also complete research projects, learn from industry professionals and may present their work at conferences. Theater-based workshops help students build communication skills. CS4CS is a four-week, in-person program held in Brooklyn, New York, Monday through Friday from 10 AM to 4 PM. There is no cost to attend, because every student receives a full scholarship funded by DTCC. The 2026 program ran from July 13 to August 7, 2026.

Requirements

Open to students currently in 10th or 11th grade who live in New York City or specific nearby areas (parts of Long Island along the Babylon, Ronkonkoma and Huntington LIRR lines, Nassau County, and listed New Jersey-area counties). Students must attend the full four-week program in person. Apply through the online application on the program page.
