Summer Youth Tillers Internship

The Green Guerillas Summer Youth Tillers Internship is a paid summer internship in New York City for young people interested in community gardening, food justice, and caring for the environment. Interns spend the summer working in community gardens across the city alongside experienced garden leaders and Green Guerillas staff. The work is hands-on, including tending shared green spaces and learning sustainable growing practices. The program also uses mentorship, group activities, and discussion to connect gardening with cultural identity and food justice. Participants build practical skills, teamwork, and leadership. The 2026 cohort has finished, and earlier cohorts wrapped up in August of each year from 2022 to 2025.

Applicants must live in New York City and be 17 to 19 years old, per the Green Guerillas youth internship inquiry form. No previous gardening experience is needed. Students express interest by submitting the inquiry form, which lists Summer Youth Tillers as one of the organization's youth internship options.
