About
The CITYarts Internship is a part-time, in-person internship with CITYarts, a New York City nonprofit that pairs young people with professional artists to create public art such as murals and mosaics. High school students are encouraged to apply. Open positions include the Social Media, Development, PR/Marketing, and Projects internships. Projects interns divide their time between office tasks and mural sites, where they help artists and work alongside volunteers and youth. Development interns research funding sources and help prepare grant applications. PR/Marketing and Social Media interns create promotional materials and help run the organization's social media accounts. Interns plan their own schedules with staff and usually work 15 to 20 hours per week, mostly during weekday business hours. The office is on Bleecker Street in Manhattan. School credit is available. Interns ages 18 and older receive a stipend of $15 for every 8 hours worked, while high school interns are unpaid.
Requirements
Open to high school students and older students. Interns should be motivated, interested in the arts or nonprofits, and comfortable with Google Suite; some positions ask for skills like Photoshop, Canva, social media, or basic painting and drawing. To apply, students email a cover letter and resume and note their area of interest and weekly availability, and interviews may be scheduled after that. CITYarts is accepting applications for fall 2026 and spring 2027 internships, and the internship pages do not list an application deadline.
