About
The Chicago Summer Business Institute (CSBI) Internship Program places Chicago high school students in paid summer internships, with a focus on introducing them to the financial services sector. The nonprofit was founded in 1991 and is funded entirely by corporate sponsors. Interns spend six weeks working at a sponsoring company, where a supervisor helps them set goals and evaluates their work. On Friday afternoons, students take part in workshops led by volunteers and program coordinators. Guest speakers and panelists also share their career experience with the intern class.
Requirements
To be eligible for the 2027 summer program, students must live in the City of Chicago and be a high school sophomore, junior or senior during the 2026-2027 school year. Applicants need at least a B or 3.0 average, their family household income must be under $80,000 a year, and they must be able to meet the program's daily commitments. To apply, students register an email address on the online application portal and complete every section. The application requires an official transcript, a resume, an essay, an income verification form signed by a parent or guardian, and two letters of recommendation. The application portal is typically open from February 1 to March 31.
