About

The Discovery Cube Teen Volunteer program is a volunteer role at Discovery Cube, a nonprofit science center with campuses in Santa Ana (Orange County) and Sylmar (Los Angeles), for high school students ages 15 to 18 who enjoy STEM and working with people. Teen volunteers engage guests at exhibits, lead hands-on science activities, answer visitor questions, and help with special events and administrative projects. Most teen shifts happen on weekends, school holidays, and during the summer, and a typical shift lasts about four hours. Volunteers sign up for set shifts. Discovery Cube only signs hour verification forms or writes recommendation letters after a volunteer reaches 60 hours.

Requirements

Open to high school students ages 15 to 18; students who are 14 can begin applying one month before turning 15. Volunteers are asked to serve regular 4-hour shifts every 30 days and to complete a minimum of 60 hours of service. To apply, students submit an online application, a resume, and a letter of recommendation from a non-family adult, then complete an interview. Details for winter/spring 2027 will be posted on December 1, 2026. The Los Angeles campus lists online applications for its teen positions.
