About
Today's Interns, Tomorrow's Professionals (TIP) is a paid internship program at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston for Boston Public Schools high school students who have finished their sophomore year. The Bank runs it in partnership with the Boston Private Industry Council (PIC), and it gives income-eligible students in Greater Boston paid internship experience at the Bank. Every intern starts with a summer work experience that pairs a job with coaching and skill-building workshops. Training focuses on interpersonal skills such as complex problem solving and conflict resolution, and interns earn a paycheck for their work. The Boston Fed's program pages do not list specific summer dates, weekly hours, a pay rate, or the number of interns. After the summer, some interns are selected for an extended year-round internship, depending on available openings and on each student's interest, effort, and performance. This phase can last up to three years, carrying interns from junior year of high school through their first year of post-secondary education. TIP is part of the Bank's work on reducing barriers to economic stability for lower-income young people, and it aims to give interns a strong first job and a path toward professional careers.
