About

QCaMP (Quantum, Computing, Mathematics, & Physics) is a free summer day camp that introduces high school students to quantum computing. Student sessions take place in the Bay Area of California and in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Participants learn computing basics, explore quantum physics through hands-on work with quantum circuits, and use those ideas to approach computing problems in new ways. The student program also includes career talks and plenty of time for questions. California students meet on site at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, while New Mexico students meet at the University of New Mexico PAIS Building. The camp costs nothing, and students receive a stipend. The 2026 student camp ran June 29 to July 24, 2026. Separate QCaMP programs are offered for high school educators.

Requirements

The only prerequisites are basic algebra and an interest in the subject; no advanced math or physics is needed. Applicants must be at least 16 years old by the first day of camp and should live fairly close to Berkeley, CA or Albuquerque, NM. Graduating seniors may apply, but students who have already attended cannot return. Apply online through Kaleidoscope, including a recommendation.
