About

The PrepareRI High School Internship Program is a paid summer internship for high school juniors who attend a public or charter school in Rhode Island. It is run by Skills for Rhode Island's Future (SkillsRI) as part of the state's PrepareRI initiative from the Governor's Workforce Board. Students who are accepted are placed with a Rhode Island employer that fits a career area they may want to pursue. SkillsRI's office is at 30 Exchange Terrace in Providence. Interns earn $17.50 per hour and can work up to 20 hours per week. Over the summer, a student can earn as much as $4,200. Along with the job itself, the program teaches work readiness skills, gives students a chance to explore different careers, and shows them what real workplaces expect. Interns also meet employers and peers from across the state, which helps them start a professional network early.
