About
Partners in Science is a summer research internship run by Liberty Science Center in Jersey City, New Jersey, for rising high school juniors and seniors with a strong interest in science and technology. Each student is paired with a mentor in a science, health, or technical field and works on authentic research, often in a college or university research facility. The 2027 program runs from June 29 to August 21, 2027, and students commit 35 to 40 hours a week. Internships take place mainly in person at the mentor's facility, with most sites in New Jersey and some in New York City, and students arrange their own transportation. Alongside their research, interns attend an orientation, several professional development sessions at Liberty Science Center, and a final symposium where they share their work. The program is designed to build skills in scientific inquiry and in oral and written science communication, and to give students a network of advisors and professional contacts. Students who complete all program requirements receive a $1,200 stipend. Students from outside the local area may apply but must arrange their own housing and travel.
