For Accelerators and Incubators
StandOut Search is a free resource funded by the University of Chicago and The University of Illinois that helps Chicago’s most talented high school students find internships at startups. We have a special focus on supporting underrepresented students on the South Side of Chicago. In the past, we have worked with over 200 startups to pair them with students hoping to learn about the professional world by bringing their unique skills to a team. Of our previous matches, 90% of startups have invited students to continue working with them past the originally intended internship length, showing that the student was a value add to their team. StandOut interns have helped them with projects ranging from researching cryptocurrency to building out their TikTok presence to creating a student ambassador program.
We currently partner with 12 accelerators and incubators, including Techstars Chicago, MATTER Health, The Polsky Center at the University of Chicago, 1871, MHub, The Hatchery, YES at Yale University, CORE at Columbia University, Cardinal Ventures at Stanford University, VINES at Vanderbilt University, UCLA Startup Labs, and the UC Berkeley Tech & Entrepreneurship society. Partnerships are completely free for accelerators and incubators and their participating companies.
As the pandemic comes to an end, our goal is to partner with more Chicago accelerators who can help us create in-person as well as virtual opportunities for our students. Our partners usually list us as a resource in newsletters, on their website, or in their Slack community. We are also happy to sponsor food and beverages for networking events in order to get to know your participating companies and tell them about the work we do.
